Hi there. This article is about continued education. It’s my opinion, that in order to succeed at real estate you MUST be a student of real estate. Real estate has to be in your head and in your bones. ALWAYS.
It has to be more than just a job. It must be a passion. The days of just throwing buyers in the car and selling them a house are over. This is not a temporary change in the market. It’s the new way of doing business.
Buyers and Sellers alike are spending time searching for agents and looking for properties on the Internet. If they aren’t finding you when they search then you are effectively out of business.
You may be able to hold on for awhile. You may have past customers that are feeding you referrals or a Broker or team leader who are feeding you leads. But, make no mistake about it, you are no longer in the real estate business.
You are holding on by a thread and surviving off of others’ leftovers. This is a very bad situation to be in.
Of course the solution is to do something about it. If I were in this position I would be spending every free moment trying to learn about this new market. I would want to learn how to use the Internet to make myself known. I would make this my primary focus.
If you don‘t have the willingness and desire to learn how to conduct business in today’s environment then get out now. It makes no sense to prolong the inevitable. Does it?
Now if you do have the willingness and the desire to learn then here are a few sites to get you started. I would spend at least an hour a day, every day, soaking up as much information as possible. Your future may very well depend on it.
